Home sweet home

It's now official, Dan and I are now very poor...and a little overwhelmed. We wanted to move out this year (rent another apartment) but we didn't know that we were going to make the biggest purchased of our life. Last weekend, we visited an old candy factory (from 1908) that got transformed into condos and in less than an hour we made a 1000$ deposit. And the cool thing is that we are part of a program that advances 10% of the downpayment to people that are going to be owners for the first time. That's why we can buy our dream condo this year. We are moving in august 15th :)

Knowing that, I decided that join the "5 things group": Every week five things leave your home and are donated, sold on ebay, craigslisted etc. In my case, most of the things will be put in a box for our garage sale just before we move out. If any of you want the first 6 "Lines & Shapes" books just leave me a comment and I will pick a name next saturday (april 4th). Oh, and my financial calculator (those things are like 50$) is also available ;)

Barcelona

My latest sewing project: Amy Butler's Barcelona skirt in denim, obviously! Because a girl can't have too much denim clothes...especially with polka dots lining :)

On my wall

Are you one of those people that has a spotless oven, a dust bunny free floor, a dustless bookshelf top and a bath tub so clean that you can see your refection in it at all time? Well, it's not my case! Not at all! However, I like when each item in my small loft has its own place. That's why I made fabric cork boards for my "big" jewelry collection. A fun and fast little project!

Oh, one last thing, if you ever come to my place, just don't look inside the plastic containers in the fridge (like my mother does)...it's at your own risks!

Hunting season

So it's decided! Dan and I are going to move out of our little one-room loft this spring. For the past 7 years we were pretty much always in the same room (one must go to the bathroom from time to time!). It was always very comforting to see Dan from any corner of the "nest"! But it's time to grow up and start to seriously think about adding a new member to our family...and I'm not talking about another pet ;) So the hunt for a new "nest" with rooms has started. And moving out is synonym of post-its in the IKEA catalogue, compulsive home decor magazines purchases and endless lists on Etsy.

And tell me if it's normal but I really feel like a mama bird trying to get the perfect nest for her birdy. And I'm not even pregnant! I also started to picture myself with the cutest pregnant outfits and day dreaming about how Dan will be an amazing dad. I also know that I will get a reusable diaper kit, banish over the top "babyish" clothes, take baby-mother yoga classes and have a vintage samsonite luggage bag as a diaper bag (I just bought the bag on etsy but for the moment it's just a big purse)! I guess that's what they refer to as having your maternal clock ticking...and it's freaking me out!!!
