Looking for happiness

For the past few months, I put a lot of energy convincing myself that I was happy at work. I would tell myself that not that many people like their job anyway and that I was being picky. However, a new opportunity presented itself and I decided to go for it! Well, guess what? Convinced happiness is not at all like real happiness!!! For the next three months, I will be the promotion/event coordinator for the nicest little public market located in one of Montreal's most underprivileged neighbourhood. The main goal of that non-profit market is to give a better access to fruits and vegetables to the less fortunate. Some people in that area haven't had fresh strawberries in years!

Anyway, my new office is near a park with a pretty fountain, many big trees and comfortable benches where I could eat my lunch on sunny days. So I made a picnic placemat from Simple Sewing. Now I just need to make myself a lunch for tomorrow ;)

Hope you're enjoying the new job...sometimes smaller is more tangible and satisfying. Which market is it? Can you say?!!

Claudia - I'm so glad your new job is so good. Sounds like it suits you perfectly. Thanks for your recent messages re the pear package (which I'm glad you received) and the new baby. Take care and hope you have lots of happy lunches!

Congratualtions on the new job! I can totally relate! I've been in a job that wasn't for me for the last 2 years and have finally taken the plunge and quit. So one more week left in work and still jobhunting but incredibly relieved I finally made the decision! Good luck with the new job, it sounds fab and enjoy the lunches :-)

Yea, I'm so happy for you. Glad you have a job that feels good and is a good cause. I was checking out at the grocery store with a lot of fresh fruits and veggies and the check out clerk said "I wish I could afford to eat healthy like this." It made me really sad.

Your picnic placemat will make even a pb&j look good.

hi! funny how one link leads to an image (your white photos) that leads to a blog of a person who's having some of the same thoughts that I had today!
It's no small thing to leave a comfortable job and put our happiness first but in the US - as the middle class shrinks - many of us reconsider the price we pay for what we've convinced ourselves is a decent salary.
Congrats to you and your new job - it sounds very rewarding.
Feel free to check out what I do in my "spare time" on my blogs.
Thanks for the inspiration!
