Making lines

October was supposed to be a month of I-need-to-use-my-fabric-scrap. So far, October has been a month of "blip"-I poked- my-finger-again-with-my-felting-needle!!!. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the fact that my etsy shop is doing great. It's just that if I don't get a thimble I will soon get a skin infection ;)

Today, I went back to my beloved fabric stash for the first time in days and I made a little patchwork scarf. Since it was a little boring looking, I decided to try free quilting for the first time. OH JOY! Free quilting is like therapy. It is so satisfying to push the pedal to the metal (my husband taught me that expression...I find it funny!) and move the fabric by following your instinct. Go ahead...try it! You won't regret it!

Note: I know I know...the little owl fabric is totally cute! I ordered it from Miko Design a few months ago. Take a look, she has beautiful things :)

Your scarf is BEUTIFUL! Love the owls. Looks like I definitely need to learn to free motion quilt. Especially if it is therapeutic. :)

Hi Claudia. I love, love love (!!) your scarf. Did you just use a regular machine for the free stitching and which foot? (I am a quilting dummy, I admit it!)

Hi Claudia,

I am delurking to say hello! I love your blog! I also love your scarf, and just picked up my free motion quilting foot the other day at the sewing shop and have been scared to attach it and try! So, you are inspiring me to go for it! I love love love your blog, and I love your fearlessness to try new things. I am off to your etsy shop to request a special order of acorns!

The scarf looks so good, I always love seeing how other people combine my fabrics, can I use your picture for my blog? (with link to yours of course!)

I love the scarf and the free form sewing - I wonder if I would be better at that than the sewing in straight lines that I am so bad at!!

I can commiserate with the needle felting finger - it happens to me all the time! I think you can't needle felt without it happening at least once!
