Even if "aux petits oiseaux" used to be a craft blog (a blog that I badly neglected) I decided to use it as a pregnancy diary. I'm now writing about my very early pregnancy stage. I know that this could be inappropriate (oh, it is too early to tell people) but this will be my way of finding a little bit of peace during this blissful and scary part of my life.
The way I found out I was pregnant was unusual. I took an at-home pregnancy test like most people and 3 minutes later it turned out to be positive. I know, it is pretty normal! I must explain first what happened 36 hours before I took the pregnancy test. This is when things get complicated!
I'm an event planner but I knew that the day that I wanted to get pregnant, I would need a more relaxed job (no more 70 hours week, skipping meals, high stress, etc.). For the past few months, I have been working part-time as an event planner and part-time in a home decor boutique. It was a perfect balance...until Friday (July 23rd). Until a man came in the store, put a knife on my neck and told me that he would kill me in 10 seconds if I don't give him the money.
I'm ok! However, my back started to hurt like never before. The nice people at the crime victim assistance centre told me that this was a consequence of post traumatic stress. I was in great need of a massage. Did you know that you can't have a massage during your first trimester? I didn't want to take a chance. After all, Dan and I have been "busy" getting pregnant for one small month!!! To our big surprise (who gets pregnant the first month?), the tests (I took another one 24 hours later) turned positive.
So, instead of a massage, I ended up in a floating bath...in a complete sensation of weightlessness. While I was quietly relaxing in the water, I put my hand on my belly and had a little talk with...with...I don't know how to call it. For the moment, I will call it the "bunny". So I presented myself to the bunny, told him what happened on Friday and asked him to be strong and hang in there even if things were not exactly perfect at the moment.

I'm so glad that you are alright. I can only imagine how scary that would be.
Congratulations on your pregnancy Claudia!
I'm so glad that you are alright. Did I say that already?
Wow, great news!!! After a false start, I hope it will happen to me soon too!
I'm so happy for you :-)
Little bunny; that's cute!
..for the scary part (and the "I feel weird" part) of the pregnancy.. come to my place for a coffee (yes, you can take coffee) or a tea and we'll have a little chat about babies :-)
Or we can go out for an ice cream.. mmmmm.. my treat!
Congratulations, such wonderful news!
What happened to you is horrendous! I do hope that you will be ok. Take care.

Congratulations on the pregnancy.
I totally didn't expect to read the scary part and then I got so nervous just thinking about what that must have been like for you. Glad that you well.
I think sharing the pregnancy in the beginning is awesome. I kept it a secret both times and it's so hard because it's such a big deal. I got pregnant pretty quickly too. The first month with the second. And only a few with the first.
Congratulations Claudia! What a story to tell the kids! Enjoy your pregnancy - it's a magical time!
Claudia,
congratulations! This is such exciting news. I look forward to following you on your journey and for all of the crafts that I'm sure this little one will inspire. (But take it easy this first trimester, you'll need all the rest you feel like you need.)
Congratulations to both of you! How very exciting!
I am so sorry about the bad man- I hope you are recovering and your job is not stressful now...
So so excited for your new little one on the way!
glad you're ok!
and congratulations!
I was looking through your photos and comments on flickr and was wondering if your absence meant you were pregnant or trying :)
Congratulations Claudia! And what a scary experience for you, hope you're OK. I have had three pregnancies, and they all only took one month of trying!
Congrats! The hubby and I are expecting too. Glad to hear that you are okay after that scary experience. Take care and enjoy your pregnancy!
Congratulations!
oh my gosh! what a story! i'm so happy to hear that you are ok - and pregnant!! I hope the rest of your pregnancy is happy and relaxing and free of crazy people ;) x bess
Ohhh, congratulations!! And what a terrifying experience too :( My goodness. I'm so glad you're okay! I turned out to be a terrible pregnancy blogger (I'm an even worse craft blogger!), but I greatly look forward to hearing updates of your pregnancy journey as well as sharing your creativity with us :) Best wishes!
Wow, that is a scary, scary event. Congratulations on the little "bunny". I know what you mean about not wanting to say anything when you are only 5 weeks pregnant, or will be 5 weeks pregnant on Tuesday ;)It is a very exciting and stressful time even with your second child. I wish you all the best and again congratulations.
Dear Claudia,
I'm so happy for you and Dan - such wonderful news. Lots of congratulations! :)) I totally understand that you just had to share it. :))
But I'm also really sorry to hear that you had a horrible experience like that in the shop. Especially when you loved the job so much.
Hopefully you are surrounded by caring people to love and hug you.
And you are having a baby - that i can't forget! I bet it gets to be so well-dressed. ;))
Take care. :))
this is amazing! so happy for you ... congratulations!!!
and I'm relieved that you are ok after that terrible and scary incident. look after yourself and that tiny "bunny"! hugs*
Congrats. This will be a wonderful journey. I hope you feel healthy and happy during the entire time. With that said, I am so sorry about your experiences leading up to this wonderful turn of life events. I am glad you are OK. I am also glad that it appears you had some wonderful people who educated you about the stress after the fact. So many people do not understand this.
congratulations on your soon to be new bundle of joy! i hope you can put that terrible experience in the rear view mirror and look forward to all the wonderful new things awaiting you. i think bunny is going to be very lucky with the lovely things you will be making for s/he and your photo is adorable.
Yay yay yay!
Congratulations.
I got pregnant the first month too!
I am glad that you are ok, relax and enjoy the present now!
this is so exciting, congrats!! I'm 27 weeks now, it goes so fast! I like that you share it early, I couldn't, that's why I was very silent in my blog for a looong time ;)
All the best,
Julia

Wow! Congratulations Claudia! I'm so glad that everything is okay, that must have been so scary, but what wonderful news to get! I wish you the best of luck!
that sounds terrifying. i hope you have worked through this. i'm so sorry it happened.
As you can notice from my comments, I'm going through your blog reading posts I may have missed. And this is one of them. I can't believed what happened to you; how traumatic. I hope it is all forgotten now.
It is so great that you managed to get pregnant so quickly. Our L was an accident. I stopped taking the pill because of migraines and we were pretty careful but I ovulated twice in one month (found this out afterwards) which is how come I got pregnant. And I only discovered I was preggo at 9 weeks (home pregnancy tests were negative, periods were still there, etc.). I was in utter shock! But it was the best accident of my life.
