Week 6

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments that you sent me. You really brightened my daily routine and gave me all the courage that I needed to embark on this new journey! Thank you, thank you, thank you! xoxoxoxo

.......................................................................................

Telling people that I'm pregnant, especially this early in the process, gave me an incredible feeling of relief. You have to know that if you tell me a secret, it will be pure torture for me to keep my mouth shut! However, I also found out that revealing my story, especially to the future grand-parents, opened the door to a world of giggly pastel non-sense that is simply out of my control! It seems that future grand-parents are genetically made to forget the sentence "I understand that you are happy but lets just not make a big deal out of this until the end of the first trimester".

It is not that I'm pessimistic but miscarriages happen. I read that about 15 per cent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage. And strangely enough, this subject remains a taboo. When I decided to publish my big news on my blog, some people were upset. Well, call me naive, but if I have a miscarriage I'm pretty sure that I will move on with my life much faster if I'm supported by lovely blog friends than if I isolate myself and keep this a secret...remembered, I suck at secrets!

Don't worry, my pregnancy blog will not only be about hold up and miscarriage! I know that somewhere, inside me, lives a giggly pastel non-sense mom...I just need to find her! Although, I might tell you about my sensitive nipples in a very near future ;)

Go Claudia! You should do whatever makes you happy. Who made it a rule that we're supposed to wait until that magic first trimester before sharing the news? My first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and as I had not told anyone, it seemed twice as hard telling friends and family about both the pregnancy and the miscarriage at the same time.

PS Sensitive boobs were exactly how I knew I was pregnant each time!!

I think you're absolutely right, and I agree with the comment above: do what feels best to you. I had a miscarriage in February, and I really needed to share about it, even to friends I hadn't told I was pregnant. Best of luck, it doesn't happen to everyone! Take good care of yourself.

Congratulations Claudia - I read your post yesterday, but it was at a time when I didn't have my hands free to write a comment (drying my hair in a hurry), but wanted to say how pleased I am for you (but also how sad that you had such a traumatic experience).

You're right - the telling people too early thing is an odd taboo and one that is probably much better broken. I told lots of people early for my first pregnancy...but didn't tell most people about my second pregnancy until I reached 20 weeks. Neither way had any real logic to it, it was just what I felt like doing a the time. Pregnancy is very much like that - strong instincts on what's right for you - all of which are worth following.

Oh Claudia! Congratulations on this exciting journey. All of these trimester rules...there is a practicality and a reality but there is also the strong human need to share and connect at the excitement of this special time. When it comes to pregnancy I've had the most blessed of experiences and the most heartbreaking (which actually came in the 2nd trimester so who says time is any guarantee either) - you truly have to someone with or someplace to share both, and most important of all, you have to take the leap of faith and feel free to embrace the joy and expectation of this most magical time. All is going to be WELL and beyond caution and looking after yourself, that's all you should focus your thoughts on. I'm so happy for you and so looking forward to seeing you back in this space writing again. Congratulations again and sending you and your 'bunny' so much positive energy.

Claudia! Congrats! I've missed you. I think all blogs kind of evolve as peoples lives evolve. This will be fun. And I loved the photo you posted when you shared the news.
