I don't learn from my mistakes. Every year, when winter is almost over, I realize that I look like a cave woman. And this year is even worst since I spent most of the cold season without work (hello, same outfit 2 days in a row). I will spare you the details but I'm sure that you can visualize the "dramatic" consequences of 3 months of style neglect.

In order to get rid of the cave woman look I made an inventory of my clothes (yes, I do stuff like that). And the results are shocking !!! It seems that I don't know how to shop intelligently. Logically, you are suppose to have 40% basics clothes, 40% work clothes and 20% "omg, I love this so much" pieces! Well, most of my clothes are part of the last group and believe me it is not efficient!

I had to start somewhere, so I made this little skirt (Simplicity 2656) to go in the 40% work group. It is classic, simple, perfect for the office and it can be adapted to every season.

So, am I the only person who would need a personal stylist??? Any volunteers ;)

I'm an event planner! This is my job (well, when I work!). I love making plans to make sure that everything will be perfect! I'm actually very good at it! However, at home, I have a tendency to be very spontaneous. Like the day that I decided to make dark color stain touch ups to a little side table in our living room. Since I get hyper easily I accidentally dropped the bottle on our new wooden floor. The floor turned out to be ok but the sofa was not that lucky! A few drops (about 10-15) went on our new Ikea love seat cover. I could get another one but I don't have much money at the moment (it costs about 150$) so I had to find a creative solution.

A few months ago, I did research on how to hide cat claw damage on a sofa and I saw the cutest idea ever. So I contacted Lina and, lucky me, a few adorable doilies arrived in the mail! Thank you Lina!

What do you think (they are holding in place with pins at the moment...I needed some opinions first!).

Thank you xox

Just because, no reason really, I decided to put some of my pictures in my Etsy shop. I will definitely freak out if I sell something. Last year, I read this quote: "Buying a Nikon doesn't make you a photographer. It makes you a Nikon owner."! I can totally relate (except that I'm a Canon girl) but if I never try, well, I will never know!

Have you ever had a case of impostor syndrome???

Valentine's day turned out to be very productive! Dan and I sat on our loveseat, listened to some music, gazed into each others eyes and...braided necklaces! Oh yeah, four lovely (to my opinion) necklaces that will be in my etsy shop tomorrow.

I'm in my white-gray-black period. For the past few weeks, we are slowly "working" on our bedroom and we decided to go for a gray palette. The walls are bunny gray (honestly, I didn't know that bunnies were that color!), the door knobs are black, the curtains will be white and the chest of drawers will be raccoon gray (wolf gray was ugly with bunny gray so I sanded everything and picked raccoon gray because I just can't help it...forest critter paint names are so convincing!!!).

Anyway, still in my white-gray-black period, I made a little necklace from this tutorial. Jenny from Wikstenmade is a Lucky magazine guest blogger this week and she created a few cute necklaces that are very easy to make. I used gray yarn, white and gray embroidery floss and I made 3 little needle felted balls. It is just that simple!

Bye bye 29

Today, February 3rd 2010, I turned 30 years old! I didn't really feel anything unusual this morning when I woke up. I don't know but for a strange reason I expected to get hit by a ton of bricks, a train, a...you get the concept. No, I actually felt pretty good. Yes, it is true, I would have love to start this new decade with a job (I do, however, have a few job interviews this week...fingers cross).

No, when I woke up, I didn't feel like an old crotte (my mother in law, who speaks english, loves to use this "franglish" expression for old turd). I sat in bed, looked around me and realized that I'm a lucky girl. I'm healthy, I have a wonderful husband, a loving cat and dog, a super condo that we call home, a great family and some good friends. I also know what I want and what I have to do to be happy. When I think about it, 30 doesn't sound that bad after all!

Anyway, I don't look like 30!
