Lovely Holidays Ideas - n.1

I decided to write quick little posts about the Holidays. They are mostly for me because I still have "new mom memory problems" and it is driving me crazy. So no personal picture, no blah blah blah, just an idea (in words or in images) !

Idea n.1 from Simplicity Parenting (quote from the author)

"A good friend told me that they just focus on 4 gifts for their children: something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read. This framework of 4 gifts I think really helps to eliminate potential stuff that isn’t needed."

You know, I think that is wonderful. Start on the right foot and as you mean to go on, because once your children are accustomed to being spoilt rotten at christmas with overflowing sacks of gifts, they would be quite unhappy to suddenly receive only 4 :(

I must say that is a good idea. And this being Finnley's 1st Christmas it would be good to start off right.
Oh and can I tell you that I love your blog so much! You have totally been helping with all of this new-ness that I have been living with. Thanks.

That's what we stick to here too! Of course, there's no controlling the rest of the family and what they give them!

I like this a lot. I would also add a Santa gift, which is basically just something to spoil them. I love the magic of Santa and it's something important that I want to share with my kid.

I love this sentiment, but I agree with everyone else - I can control what I give him but not what everyone else does. I think my kid is going to being spoiled rotten.

I got this book from the library based on your recommendation and I'm loving it...I've been thinking a lot about the holidays, too, and setting the right tone for Juno's celebrations. I was just saying last night to my husband that for the first six months of their lives you just worry about keeping them alive, are they eating, sleeping, etc. Now is the time when we actually have to start parenting, I think. :) Like, she'll look at a television if it's on, so no more TV while she's awake, etc...

That's a wonderful idea! I might add something handmade to that list. I know I've always cherished the most gift from my parents that they made for me.

Love this idea! I think this ties in with your "to jesus or not" post the other day. Make the holiday mean something - it's not just about the gifts.
