Christmas came early this year. I finally have a real family portrait, done by a talented photographer, and totally free of charge (but we obviously, and happily, made a donation)!
My fantastic neighborhood was part of an awesome event called Montreal Help Portrait (international info here).
Help Portrait is a global movement of photographers (and makeup artists...I never looked that good!) using their time, gear and expertise to give back to those in need. Yes, I know, we do not fit at all the definition of "in need" but the event also opened its doors to everybody in the neighborhood: rich, poor, single, family, young, old ! It was a great opportunity to meet our neighbors and see smiles and happiness all over the place.
We didn't want a "traditional" family portrait and our designated photographer totally nailed it! I wanted to bring all the pictures home but we were only allowed to have one print...which is already amazing...I repeat that everything was free of charge.
I love it and it will soon be framed and installed proudly in our living room on top of our "new" vintage metal red bookshelf that we purchased last weekend.
Oh, can you believe that neither of my parents like the picture, pfff!?!

Sweet photo! What a wonderful event.
And I spy the complete Lemony Snicket series on your shelf:) Love that globe too.
I love it. Since I work in this industry I know that most parents and grandparents want the smiles... but reality is that the kid doesn't smile every minute of the day... and I love photos when they have an expression other than smiling. I think it reveals a lot about the child. The photo is really awesome and does deserve a place on your wall. I love your expressions too - you can tell she is the love of your lives.
I simply want to tell you that I am all new to blogging and honestly loved this web page. Very likely I’m going to bookmark your blog post . You definitely have remarkable stories. Thanks a bunch for sharing your web page.
Oh Claudia -- this photo is lovely! And could Alice be any more photogenic?!?
