Contrast

Last week I was in Iceland: walking through the trendy streets of Reykjavik, bathing in surreal Blue Lagoon, enjoying beautiful sceneries under the midnight sun and freezing my fingers because I didn't bring my mittens with me...come on we were in June! Iceland is a wonderful country that you can't visualize accurately until you see it by yourself but you can always try! Iceland has snowy volcanoes, surprising geysers, luscious green moss, powerful waterfalls, moon like fields and milky blue water. It does smell like eggs sometimes but you can't focus on a small detail like that when you are surrounded by such beauty!

This week, back to Montreal, I suffocate (35C) whenever I go outside for more than 30 minutes. To protect my pale skin against the sun I decided, even if it had bad reviews, to make the hat in Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing book. It's not complicated to make but, I warn you, the brim is outrageously big! Cut at least 1 inch or you will get hit by a car because you didn't see it coming!

Lucky you! I'll just have to go to Yellowstone and pretend I am in Iceland then!
I have the same problem with my hat too.

I love your hat! I was looking to buy one yesterday for my walking trip in Spain, perhaps I will need to get my friend Andrea to help me sew one!

I love your photos of Iceland - it sounds like you had a great trip - it is somewhere I would love to visit - I've been to the airport on countless occasions flying to Boston or New York and once we all got a free trip to swim in the Blue Lagoon in between flights - no air rage on that flight - it truly is a bizarre experience!

Iceland looks absolutely stunning - thanks for sharing the photos!

And I love the hat, very impressed that you made it. The brim looks fine to me, but then I'm not the one who has to dodge traffic in it!

Clo - Iceland looks great! I was wondering when you were going to Post about it. :) I love your hat...I think the Brim is just fine the way it is. Besides - you do want to keep the Sun off, right?

Glad your home! Say hi! to Brian from Tessa!

Fabulously cute rendition of the Lotta hat!

I like mine (despite its comic proportions). And Iceland looks amazing.

I'm dreaming of Iceland now especially since it's hot and humid here in the midwest USA. Your sewing skills are terrific, and at least if you do get hit by a car you'll be wearing a really cute hat!

Love the red stitching on your hat - it's incredibly straight - how do you do that?!!!

Iceland certainly sounds beautiful. And the hat is adorable. I have the book and I heard the same reviews. Thanks for the tip though because I really wanted to make this hat!

what a great hat, I like the combination of the red polka dots and red stitching (far starighter than my beginner sewing skills!)

Iceland is definitely a place I wish to go to as well... The nature, the people and their magnificent crafts - especially embroidery and knits! - would be such a pleasure to experience.

And I would HAVE to visit this shop: www.nalin.is

You look so sweet with your new hat on - hopefully a traffic safe version? ;0)
