frugal monday - Project 333

While reading on simplicity / minimalism / vegetarian / eco-friendly design / blah blah blah, I discovered Project 333

Project 333 is pretty simple, in theory, but challenging at the beginning. However, when things are in place, it turns out to be a wonderful initiative.

Basically,  this minimalist fashion challenge invites participants to dress with 33 items (or less) for 3 months. Don't get me wrong, I love clothes (and shoes!) as much as, well, most people who enjoy reading mom/style/design/fashion blogs but sometimes it is good to refocus your (my) priorities.

You should try...it is fun!

 * * * * *

There are a few rules:

When: Every three months (It’s never too late to start so join in anytime!

What: 33 items including clothing, accessories, jewelry, outerwear and shoes.

What not: these items are not counted as part of the 33 items – wedding ring or another sentimental piece of jewelry that you never take off, underwear, sleep wear, in-home lounge wear,  and workout clothing (you can only wear your workout clothing to workout)

How: Choose your 33 items, box up the remainder of your fashion statement, seal it with tape and put it out of sight.

What else: consider that you are creating a wardrobe that you can live, work and play in for three months. Remember that this is not a project in suffering. If your clothes don’t fit or are in poor condition, replace them.

Great to read your list! I'm really into this kind of capsule wardrobe. For this winter, I really did that, without focusing on a particular number. I packed away all the things that I seldom used or didn't match the rest, and I exclusively wear this:

- 7 long-sleeve t-shirts (mostly grey)
- 1 pair dark slim jeans
- 1 pair black trousers (shaped like straight jeans)
- 1 pair ochre cord trousers
- 1 black skirt
- 1 rust-colour skirt
- 1 black round-neck cardigan
- 1 light grey sweater
- 1 marled (white/black/grey) sweater
- 1 blue sweater
- 1 green sweater
- 1 light brown sweater
- 1 pair of black flat ankle boots
- 1 pair of brown shoes (desert-boot type)
- 1 pair of black boots (to wear with skirts)
- 1 black coat
- 1 black winter parka
- 1 grey scarf
- 1 checked scarf (blue/cream/black/grey)
- 1 blue scarf
- 1 checked scarf (rust/black)
- 1 grey wooly hat
- 1 pair of grey gloves
- 1 big black bag (Fjallraven totepack)
- 1 big blue bag (Fjallraven totepack)
- 1 black leather shoulder bag
- 1 brown leather shoulder bag
- 1 necklace

I need a pair of trousers that would be of a lighter shade(stonewashed blue, or grey again).

It's so great not to have to think too much about what you'll be wearing. And knowing it's stuff that you've carefully chosen and that look good together.
